December 11, 2022 ~ Building Community One Positive Story at a Time
Brockton's Two New Sister Cities
Story Credits: Primrose Morrison
Wednesday, December 7th, was a historical moment for the City of Brockton and two fabulous cities on the Island of Fogo, Cape Verde. Mayor Robert Sullivan was honored to execute two Sister City agreements. A sister city relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. Shown here signing the official documents are Mayor Fábio Vieira of Mosteiros and Mayor Nuias DaSilva of São Filipe. In attendance were State Senator Mike Brady, Brockton CFO Mr. Troy Clarkson, and Chief of Staff Sydné Marrow. These Cities are well represented in Brockton. We look forward to continued collaboration and Morabeza.

For your Climate: Frugal Beauty

Frugal living is about using & re-using: checking what you have and what's available before buying something new.
Often our beauty products are overlooked when we are thinking about living climate-friendly.

Using what you have and being mindful about your purchases is good for your wallet and for the planet.

Our Climate Can-Do Articles from Jacquie focus on life changes that we can make, which will help mitigate the environmental changes of our climate emergency. Our goal is to keep the Earth's temperature from rising 1.5˚ C to lessen the sea rise. However, there are things we can do.

Beauty of Frugality!

The beauty of frugality is we
  • Save money - not spending on things we do not need, which increases our quality of life.
  • Protect the planet - breaking the chain of overwhelming consumption of our natural resources.

“I have learned to seek my happiness by limiting my desires, rather than in attempting to satisfy them.” ~ John Stuart Mill

“Frugality is one of the most beautiful and joyful words in the English language, and yet one that we are culturally cut off from understanding and enjoying. The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things.” ~ Elise Boulding

“Being frugal doesn’t mean slashing your spending or depriving yourself of things that you enjoy. It means knowing the value of a dollar and making every effort to spend it wisely.”
~ Frank Sonnenberg
It is beautiful, being frugal. I see you glowing even now. : ) ~ Jacquie
