I write today of flowerbeds, gifts for passersby.
During a recent trip to Boise to visit my brother, I took several walks through residential neighborhoods. The photo here is just one of many I took, during those walks, of beautiful flowers in people's front yards.
Beds of flowers beside the sidewalk, some simple, others more ornate, offered beauty to neighbors and passersby. Beautiful flowers! – gifts of nature’s bounty, to be sure, but also gifts of someone’s time and effort, thus making their front yard, and their neighborhood, and their city a more beautiful place.
And so, I ask myself, as I ask you Dear Reader: What will I do today to bring more beauty into the world?
It might be something as simple as a smile, or a helping hand. It might be planting bulbs or pruning a rose bush. It might even be planting a tree that will offer shade to future generations. What gift of beauty will you offer the world today?
