SHS Seniors To Graduate With College Certification

Congratulations to the newest cohort of Bearcat Patient Care Technicians! These Sherman High School students have earned their PCT certifications through Grayson College, which prepares them for jobs such as phlebotomist, EKG technician, certified nursing assistant and more. Not only that, it gives them a head start in their pursuit of a health science degree! For their dedication to earning a certification, these 11 students will participate in a pinning ceremony at 6 p.m. tonight at Grayson College.

Sherman High School will have an additional 11 seniors in the Bearcat Collegiate Program graduating with their associate degrees from Grayson College tomorrow, and another six graduating with their cosmetology license!

SMS Students Get Into Gear with Robotics Projects

Sherman Middle School robotics students put their knowledge, creativity and patience to the test recently as they overcame challenges to design and build custom robots. Everything from coding to assembly was done from the ground up by students.

“I told the students that they would also do any troubleshooting by themselves,” said Tabetha Carter, SMS robotics teacher. “When a team would have to redo something entirely, there was some frustration, but it encouraged some great problem solving and teamwork.”

Get Ready for the 2024-25 School Year!

Sherman ISD encourages new and current families to register online now for the 2024-25 school year. Parents and guardians of students returning to SISD schools are required to complete this process each year to make any needed updates or changes to their student’s information. In addition to the online form, proof of residency and any updated immunization records must be provided to the campus before the new school year begins on Wednesday, August 14.

The annual registration form can be completed entirely online, but opportunities for in-person assistance are available before the school year is over. See the remaining schedule below. All events will be held from 3:45 to 6 p.m. and are open to parents across the district. You do not need to visit the campus where your child attends school to receive assistance with the registration process.

Get Your Back-To-School Immunizations Done Early

State law requires children to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases or have a valid exemption to attend school in Texas. Depending on your child’s grade level, updated immunization records may be necessary for your child to start the 2024-25 school year. This is most likely to impact your child if they are entering kindergarten or seventh grade. Immunizations are available through your health provider or clinic, and the Grayson County Health Department is offering low-cost immunizations throughout the summer. Sherman ISD will also host vaccine clinics in July and August in conjunction with Passport Health/Staying Healthy Medical Services.
