Inclement Weather School Updates
When there is inclement weather, in addition to receiving messages from the SchoolMessenger automated system, you can learn about school closures or late start by 5:30 AM:

  • Go to lwsd.org. If school is closed or starting late, you will see a pop-up alert box.
  • Go to flashalert.net, which lists schools all over the Puget Sound area. You can also sign up to receive text alerts or emails from this service.
  • Call 425-936-1200 to listen to a recorded message.
  • Tune in to local radio and television stations.

Coffee with the Principal, Jan. 14
Join us for a 30-minute check-in for "Coffee with the Principal" on Tuesday, January 14 at 9:30 AM at RMS. Parents can chat with the principal, Jeff DeGallier, and other parents about various school topics while enjoying coffee. Please check in at the attendance office and get a visitor badge upon arrival.
Parent Education: "Ending the Silence for Families"
RMS PTSA FACE (Family and Community Engagement) presents "Ending the Silence for Families" by Michele Meaker of NAMI on Thursday, January 16, 6:30 PM in the RMS Commons. This is a free, 90-minute mental health education presentation for parents and caregivers to help them better understand the emotional and behavioral difficulties in children and adolescents. The discussions will be around heavy subject matter but youth are welcome. Download the flyer for more details and speaker bio.
Come See the RMS Musical
RMS 7th and 8th graders will be performing "The Music Man Jr." ( view the flyer ) in three performances at RHS Performing Arts Center. Showtimes are Friday, January 31 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, February 1 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Get your tickets online now at the RMS PTSA site or buy them at the door.

Spelling Bee Registration Closes Jan. 6 (Repeat)
The 2020 Spelling Bee Season kicks off with a preliminary 35-question written test on January 7. The deadline to register is Monday, January 6 at 5:00 PM. Reflections Open House (Repeat)
The LWPTSA Council Reflections Open House/Art Show is on Friday, January 10 from 4:00-8:00 PM, LWRC in Redmond Town Center. Families are invited to view student art from 44 PTAs/PTSAs including entries from RMS students.

All new and international families are invited to a free welcome event on Saturday, January 18, from 9:00-12:30 PM at the LWRC. Achievements in FIRST Robotics
Two teams, Infinity Builders and Jelly Jolts, from the LWSD area and RMS were part of a STEM engagement program called FIRST Lego League (FLL) and as teams, participated in the City Shaper Challenge in December. View the detailed page to read about their achievements!
