Student Transitions & Family Programs supports new students through their academic and social transition into the WashU community.


Current WashU students work in our office and will support you throughout your first year at WashU. This group will host programs and events, train and supervise your Student Mentors, and more!

Important Dates/Deadlines


Summer 2022


July 12 -14: Course registration


Fall 2022


August 23*: Transfer student move-in

August 24-28: Fall Welcome

August 29: First day of classes

September 5: Labor Day (No classes)

October 8 - 11: Fall Break (No classes)

November 23 - 25: Thanksgiving Break (No classes)

December 9: Last day of classes

December 12 - 21: Reading period and finals

Communication from Academic Divisions

Check your WashU email account several times a week for important messages from your academic division. You will receive details about course registration, how to connect with your academic adviser, and may be asked to fill out important forms.

May 2022 Checklist


Each month this summer, there will be important items you need to complete to ensure you are as prepared as possible for your first year. Some items on the May checklist include:


  • Submitting your housing and dining application via the WashU Pathway.
  • Activating your WashU email account.
  • Requesting your previous institution to submit transcripts.

Apply for Housing


For those choosing to live in Residential Life-managed housing, please complete the Housing Application in your WashU Pathway by the priority deadline of June 1, 2022. For those choosing to live in non-Residential Life-managed housing, we have an apartment referral service that may prove helpful as you solidify housing. 

Move-In Day & Bear Beginnings


We're excited to welcome you to campus in August! Move-In Day will be on Tuesday August 23* for students living in Residential Life.


Bear Beginnings: Transfer & Exchange Fall Welcome will take place Wednesday, August 24 through Sunday, August 28.

Update Your Family's Email Address

To ensure your family members receive university announcements, including our family-specific e-newsletter, Family Ties, make sure a parent or family email is linked to your student record in WebSTAC. Complete a family member email address update form if you'd like to make a change to your record.
