Accreditation 2021
BeConnected's 7th CARF survey has been scheduled for June 17th and 18th. This year, our survey will be conducted from a distance using CARF's Digitally Enabled Site Survey (DESS).

Art Show
BeConnected's TENTH Annual Art Show is now on at a NEW location!

Visit the Plowshare Cafe anytime during the month of June to take in some magnificant art, enjoy a coffee or lunch, and maybe even purchase a piece!

100% of the purchase price goes to the artist.

Recent Events
Earth Day
This year BeConnected celebrated Earth Day with some amazing Earth Day Kits made up of:
  • A reusable bag with earth day logo
  • Seeds in containers to just add water and watch grow
  • Packages of wildflower seeds to plant outside (bee friendly!)
  • Crayons
  • Colouring Pages

Big thank you to Home Coordinator Penny Ann for creating and distributing kits to all of our program locations! Can't wait to watch all of our flowers grow!

Challenger Baseball
Challenger Baseball might look a little different this year but we have still been enjoying our time on the field!

This year Hampton Little League has FIVE Challenger Baseball Teams with players ranging from age 7 to 42!

Each team rotates through a series of drills and activities. Thank you to Jays Care for sending along some new activities!

On May 25th the BC Government announced outdoor sports can begin playing local games! Our challengers were excited to try out their new skills in game!
Agency Updates
Performance Analysis Report
Annually, BeConnected writes a report called the Performance Analysis (PA) Report. The report highlights the achievements of BeConnected from the previous year. Some of the information included in the PA Report is:
  • Are individuals, families, and community members satisfied with BeConnected’s services?
  • Have individuals been supported to meet their personal goals?
  • Is BeConnected accessible to the individuals it supports, and individuals who may want to come to BeConnected for supports?

Risk Plan
BeConnected's Risk Management Plan is intended to address risks, as well as increase everyone’s awareness to help identify risks and develop strategies to minimize risk while achieving the mission of the agency and meeting the needs to the people involved. 

New Mission Statement
As a result of our Strategic Dreaming exercise last fall, BeConnected developed an eleventh mission statement:

We promote healthy lifestyles and wellness for individuals and personnel, and adapt to persons needs as they change. (Health, Quality of Life Framework, nutrition, and harm reduction)

Self Advocates for a Brighter Future is participating in a Spring Wellness BINGO challenge!

Participate in activities such as walking a nature trail, making a piece of artwork, or joining a virtual event!

May SABF Meeting
Water Challenge
Health experts commonly recommend adults drink eight 8-ounce glasses (about 2 liters) of water each day.

For the month of June, SABF members will be tracking their water intake!

All SABF members who participate in the June water challenge will be receiving a limited edition SABF Nalgene water bottle to help them keep track of their water intake!


Not a member of SABF but want your own water bottle? A limited number of water bottles will be available for purchase. Contact Kristen at kkay@beconnectedsupport.ca.
Fit in Fitness Month
May was fit in fitness month at BeConnected!

Each May BeConnected promotes employee wellness by reimbursing employees the cost of the may regional pass for local recreation centers. Due to COVID-19, recreation centers are unable to offer this pass and many drop in classes have been cancelled.

This year BeConnected reimbursed employees the cost of a paid fitness app (up to $20). .
BCs HUB for Workplace Mental Health
The BC Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions and Canadian Mental Health Association have created on online HUB for workplace mental health with resources specific to the community social services sector.

COVID-19 Update
Visitors
With restrictions in BC starting to lift, we are so excited to be able to welcome back visitors to our programs!

Visits must be prearranged with the Coordinator and all visitors must comply with BeConnected's safety protocols while on site.

Vaccination Information
Individuals and personnel at BeConnected who chose to receive their COVID-19 vaccines are now starting to book their second doses!

BC Restart Plan
The Government of British Columbia recently released their COVID-19 Restart Plan! Everyone at BeConnected is looking forward to when we can safely gather together again.
