Beat the Heat and Stay Safe this Summer

With a hot summer in the forecast, make sure you stay safe this summer and plan ahead.

The Province of BC and BC Hydro have expanded their Free Portable Air Conditioning Program to help vulnerable individuals access cooling options during extreme heat. Income-qualified individuals and individuals who meet the Ministry of Health's medically heat vulnerable criteria can apply to receive a free portable air conditioner. Find out more information or apply on BC Hydro's website.

Learn more about the signs of heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and how to stay cool during extreme heat.

In addition to warmer weather, wildfire season has also started in BC. There has already been over 200 wildfires this year, with some threatening homes and prompting evacuation orders. As wildfire season ramps up, prepare for wildfire smoke with these tips.
