IT'S LIVE! Mizna's two-week campaign to fund our Northern Spark participatory project has launched.
Mizna is participating in Northern Spark, the major Twin Cities all-night art festival on June 8! (Yeah, you read that right-ALL NIGHT, dusk to dawn.) We're presenting a participatory street art installation, and we want you to join us!
Underpass of the Eyes of Freedom will bring the spirit of the recent and ongoing Arab revolutions and uprisings to St. Paul. Festival goers are called to wander into an underpass of the Arab Spring: Take a spray can, an Arabic stencil: reinscribe potent global expressions of resistance and change. Including commissioned graffiti designs by Hend Kheera, Islam Shabana, Hamza Salim, and Dunya Alwan, as well as recreations of these artist's favorite Arab Spring stencils.
What are some of the tantalizing perks you'll receive for supporting this campaign?
- Limited-edition stencils and posters of the original artwork
- A chance to attend a VIP party with Hend Kheera, visiting artist from Cairo
- Tickets to a catered Northern Spark Launch Party
- A personalized tour for six in the Minneapolis Institute of Art's Islamic, South & Southeast Asian, or African galleries by Nahid Khan, a Collection in Focus Guide
- An exclusive dinner for prepared by Mizna friends featuring foods of countries of the Middle East & North Africa, South Aisa and beyond
Then, join us during Northern Spark so you too can spray messages for change.
