Dear Friend,
As we embrace the warmth and joy of the first "official" day of summer, it is important to remember this season brings unique challenges for many children in our community. For those who rely on free and reduced-price meals at school, summer vacation can mean weeks of uncertainty and hunger.
During the school year, these children receive nutritious breakfasts and lunches which are essential for their growth, learning, and overall well-being. However, when school is out, many of these students face a stark reality: the absence of reliable, healthy meals. Summer hunger is a silent crisis that affects thousands of young lives, causing physical and mental health problems which can lead to poor performance in class when school begins in August.
This summer, SP4KSA is partnering again with NEISD to distribute 20,700 weekend Snack Paks, providing essential nutrients to over 3,450 children attending Elementary Summer Sessions. Additionally, many Bexar County School Districts will offer free breakfast and lunch options for children under 18 at various locations around the city.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and compassion. Together, we can make a lasting impact and deliver the stability and nutrition these hungry kids need to thrive. Thank you for being a champion for our community’s children. Your kindness and generosity are truly making a difference.
With gratitude,
