Bayou City Art Festival Producer Art Colony Association, Inc. Welcomes New Board Members, Elects Officers 


HOUSTON (July 23 2024) - The Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing the Bayou City Art Festivals, announced Andrea Bonner, Drue DaSilva, Gina Armstrong Evans, Kristin Jensen, Michael Macedo Meazell, Kate Robertson, and Heather Staible as new additions of to its Board of Directors. ACA also elected the following board officers:  

 

·        Mike Pede, President 

·        Allen Brivic, Vice President 

·        Mary Paulette, Treasurer  

·        Obes Nwabara, Secretary 

 

“The contributions and support of our board is the heart and soul of the success of the Bayou City Art Festivals. I am thrilled to welcome our new members and thank our elected officers as they lead the Art Colony Association Board of Directors. With their experience, connections and knowledge, our board serves to drive our mission and bring art to the Houston community while raising awareness for art education and programs,” said Kelly Batterson, Executive Director of ACA.

Andrea Bonner is the Chair of Consumer Arts and Sciences Center of Excellence at Houston Community College leading the areas of Fashion Design, Fashion Management and Merchandising, Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts and Hospitality Administration. She is the owner of Style On Demand, a Personal Styling and Fashion Consulting company that produces fashion shows and conducts style and etiquette workshops for teens, personal, and corporate clients. Prior to her career in fashion, she worked for over 20 years in marketing, sales, and public relations in the healthcare industry. 

As a lifelong Houston resident, Drue DaSilva has years of extensive community service and leadership to numerous local and national committees and boards. She brings a wealth of knowledge about the city and its neighborhoods to her real estate clients. Drue is a proud alumna of the University of Houston, where she received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees, and recently served as President of the University of Houston Alumni Association Foundation Board of Directors.  

Gina Evans is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician and is an avid art collector. She uses her social media platform to help educate people on the arts and collecting. She also serves as secretary on the board of Preservation Houston and is the Vice President of the Spouses of Houston Barristers. Evans also sits on the board of Community Health Choice.

 

Kristin Jensen is a marketing and communications professional, a small business owner and entrepreneur, and an avid art lover and painter living in Houston. She specializes in connecting people to things, places, experiences, and moments that resonate with them and create joy. 

 

Michael Macedo Meazell is a native Houstonian artist, now with a home studio in the forest outside of The Big Thicket National Preserve. When not in the studio you can find him in the garden. 


Kate Robertson is a private tutor and educational consultant with over 30 years of experience in working with children and parents.  An active community volunteer, Kate has served on several nonprofit boards including Books Between Kids and HITS Theatre. Additionally, she volunteers with SEARCH Homeless Services House of Tiny Treasures and Kids Meals. Although not a native Houstonian, she is a chosen one.  Kate and her husband, Greg, enjoy both visual and performing arts. 

 

Heather Staible is a seasoned journalist, idea generator and creative marketer with a love for storytelling. Her career spans more than 25 years and includes roles in the media, retail and lifestyle. A native Houstonian, Heather has written for national and local publications and is currently the Marketing Director for The Alexander Group, a Houston-based executive search firm.

On October 11-13, 2024, Bayou City Art Festival will celebrate more than 50 years of providing unique art experiences and education for the greater Houston area by bringing diverse artists to Bayou City Art Festivals while supporting local organizations and promoting the impact that art has on the Houston community.

 

As the nation’s premier fall outdoor art festival in the U.S., Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park will provide guests with the opportunity to meet 300 artists, view original works, and purchase one-of-a-kind art, prints, jewelry, sculptures, functional art, and more. The festival features live entertainment stages, a food truck park, a craft beer and wine garden, additional live entertainment and beverage stations throughout the festival, an Active Imagination Zone, a VIP Hospitality Lounge, and much more.
