Final BHS construction projects completed over the summer
Four years ago the Barrington area community came together to pass a $147M referendum to improve the educational experience for Barrington 220 students. All major projects from the district's Build 220 initiative were completed on time and under budget for the start of the 2024-25 school year.
BHS looks very different these days, with the final major projects completed over the summer. Those included renovating the Hart Road Lot and Stadium Parking Lot, cafeteria, athletic department office, athletic and student entrances, and mechanical upgrades. Click here to see photos of all the BHS improvements!
| |
BHS cafeteria improvements (pictured) included three new flexible classroom spaces, new flooring, lighting, and paint, new flexible furniture, video wall installation w/ large flat-screen TV, new sound system, and two new single occupancy restrooms.
The new athletic office is now conveniently located next to the main gym.
The athletic entrance near the pool (pictured) and student entrances are now easily identifiable with large canopies that match the main entrance to the high school. In addition, each entrance has a secure vestibule.
Referendum information meeting following homecoming parade
During the first half of 2024, more than 2,500 community members collaborated on a plan to continue to improve Barrington 220's aging school buildings. The final $64M community-driven plan will go to voters for approval as a referendum question on this November 5 election ballot. If successful, the referendum will:
- Increase Safety & Security throughout Barrington 220
- Build a New Community Auditorium at Barrington High School
- Enhance STEAM and Instructional Spaces for Students
Join the district at a community information meeting at BHS immediately following the homecoming parade to learn more about the referendum, tour current spaces, and see why these improvements are needed:
