Our Most Recent BSC ONE Community Course in Partnership with Clear Pathway Consulting Services, LLC








BSC's One Community Course in partnership with Clear Pathway Consulting Services, LLC, is a 5-week in-person course called "Leadership with Purpose," facilitated by Dr. Kellie Dixon, Founder/Principal Consultant.




This course focuses on leadership development, framed by self-awareness and relationship awareness components. These are key for effective and efficient leadership in a variety of settings.







At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion to acknowledge their newly acquired skills.

Sophia Evans

Chief Human Resources Officer



Sophia Evans is the owner and Strategic Leadership Consultant at Apply It Consulting. Ms. Evans has held several leadership positions, such as Director of Human Resources and Operations. Current positions include Director of Administration at St. Stephen Baptist Church, Senior Human Resources Consultant at Insperity, Sr. Human Resources Advisor at Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, Board Member/Director of Teams and Events, Greater Global Missions, Inc.

 

Ms. Evans has held training and higher education positions such as Workforce Development Consultant, Applied HR Solutions, adjunct Professor and Site Director, Central Texas College, adjunct Professor, College of Southern Maryland, Strayer University and Webster University, and Charles County Board of Education’s Lifelong Learning Center. Ms. Evans is currently a MasterLife and Biblical Leadership instructor for the Kingdom Building Bible Institute at St. Stephen Baptist Church.


Ms. Evans taught graduate and undergraduate courses: Intro to Business, Operations Management, Business Ethics, Organizational Behavior, Compensation Management, Business and Society, Business Management, Leadership Development, and Staffing Organizations.

 At Apply It Consulting, LLC, Ms. Evans provides strategic leadership consulting and workforce development training to business owners, leaders, employees, and individuals who will successfully change their businesses and lives.



Ms. Evans earned her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington Adventist University. Ms. Evans has Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificates for Leaders and Workplace from the University of South Florida.

Kimberly Morris

Vice President of Enrollment Management


Ms. Kimberly Morris is a demonstrated leader in financial aid and enrollment management, driven by a deep passion and unwavering dedication to assisting colleges and universities in achieving their mission. Her main objectives revolve around delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring a smooth enrollment process for individuals pursuing post-secondary education. Recognized as a dynamic motivator, Ms. Morris firmly believes that aiming for excellence is essential, as settling for mediocrity is never sufficient.


 Currently, Ms. Morris holds the position of Founder and President at Higher Ed Consulting. HEC was established out of a deep concern and empathy for students enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). Her expertise lies in leadership, staff development, policy formulation, and process optimization. Over the past seven years, Ms. Morris has dedicated her efforts to HBCUs, addressing socioeconomic challenges and obstacles that impede students of color from accessing higher education. With nearly 25 years of experience in enrollment management, financial aid, registrar duties, and veteran affairs, Ms. Morris's dedication extends beyond academia, as she takes pride in serving her community and contributing to its development.


 Before establishing HEC, Ms. Morris held key roles in the field of education. She served as Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management and Director of Financial Aid at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, GA, between 2017 and 2021. Ms. Morris began her career in financial aid as a customer service agent at the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) in 2000, where she spent five years before transitioning to the Registrar's Office. Over a span of five years, she held positions as Assistant Registrar and Certifying Official at Gordon State College and Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC).



Ms. Morris reentered the financial aid sector in 2011 as the Director at SCTC. Throughout her career, she also contributed to Georgia State University (formerly Georgia Perimeter College) and Clayton State University. Ms. Morris holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Human Services from Clayton State University and a graduate degree in Post-Secondary Education from Troy University.

Darrell Izard

Admissions Counselor


Darrell Izard is a man with diverse experience, which includes being an author, chef, award-winning songwriter, motivational speaker, and preacher. He specializes in encouraging and motivating youth and young adults by pushing them to be the best they can be. Darrell is the founder of Kings of NC Mentorship Program where he helps young men develop life skills and provide life coaching.


He is the author of Overcoming Opposition, a book dealing with the pressures of life and how to overcome them. The book was recently adopted by Livingstone College’s bridge program as a part of their coursework. The book is also being utilized for their First Year Experience class. Darrell plans to advance his professional career by building his network, taking on new leadership responsibilities, and broadening his skill set in recruitment and counseling.


He plans to excel by publishing another book by 2025, have employees be included in his mentorship program, and obtain a certification in pastoral counseling. Darrell enjoys writing, cooking, and traveling.

Brenda Chancellor-Henderson, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Barber-Scotia College in 1974, attaining a BS degree in Secondary Education.

Ordained as the first female Deacon at Sweet Canaan Baptist Church in Piedmont, SC on December 5, 2021. I am the seventh (7) individual from the Chancellor family to serve in this capacity. Also served as a Trustee (1 of 3 females) selected in 1997.

One of the Scriptures that I live by is: (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV) "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to GOD; and the peace of GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through CHRIST JESUS."

BSC One Community Mortgage Workshop

A heartfelt thank you to all who participated in our recent BSC One Community Mortgage Workshop in partnership with Truist Bank. We were able to dive deep into valuable insights regarding homeownership, mortgage options, and financial planning.

Easter Egg Hunt

What an Egg-citing day it was at our Easter Egg Hunt in collaboration with United National District #3. Families gathered for a fun day of searching high and low for hidden treasures. Laughter echoed as children hunted for colored eggs, played games, danced to music, and enjoyed good food.

Alumni Weekend

We are excited to announce that our alumni and friends raised over $40,000.00 for Barber-Scotia's RISE initiative. Barber-Scotia College recently celebrated its Alumni Weekend, April 26 - 28th. The weekend included the 18th Annual 1867 Society Gala, Golden Graduates Luncheon, Alumni Worship Service, and the annual General Alumni Meeting.
