The youth have been thoughtfully and creatively preparing to lead worship this
Sunday, March 18th
. Come and celebrate their gifts as we worship with the heartfelt prayers they have written, the beautiful music they have prepared, and the unique gifts and perspectives they bring to the life of this church. O
ur young people deserve our enthusiastic encouragement as they offer their gifts to God, so please come and support them as we worship together and as they lead us through the fifth Sunday in Lent.

The Session recently voted to move forward with sanctuary renovations this summer. Part of this process will be the evaluation of our present hearing loop system with the potential to upgrade to a newer one. A hearing loop system is designed to help carry an amplified signal to a t-coil equipped hearing aid. All cochlear implants and most external devices have a t-coil installed.
On Tuesday, March 27th at 2 o'clock in the sanctuary, a demonstration of the system will occur.
All interested members are invited to attend. If you have difficulty getting good reception in the sanctuary with your hearing device, this would be a good opportunity to help us address this problem. Be advised, you may have to get your t-coil activated by your hearing specialist prior to this demonstration. Questions or comments, please contact Bob Smith at
bsmith701@vnet.net
or 704 786 4783.

First Presbyterian will join several other churches for a time of worship and contemplation as we walk together the "Stations of the Cross." Walking through downtown, we will stop periodically to hear the story of Good Friday and join in prayer. Stops include Memorial Garden and our FPC Sanctuary. The "mobile" service begins at 3:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church (the corner of Chestnut and Tournament) and will end around 5:30 p.m.

We will celebrate the wonder and beauty of the resurrection in this service for families and children. Remember to bring your flowers to place on the Flowered Cross. Children are reminded to bring their One Great Hour of Sharing fish boxes. There will NO Sunday School classes or nurseries during this service.
Easter Worship Services
8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
At both services, members of the Sanctuary Choir and guest instrumentalists will gloriously supplement the uplifting message of the resurrection with festive anthems like "And I Saw a New Heaven", "Oh, Love That Will Not Let Me Go," and the triumphant " Hallelujah" from Messiah by Handel that the congregation will be invited to sing. Communion will be served in the pews with trays. A nursery for infants and children up to age 4 will be provided during both services.

This past Sunday, March 11th, the Girl Scout troops sponsored by First Presbyterian Church celebrated the 106th anniversary of the first Girl Scout meeting in the United States. The scouts served as greeters and ushers at the 11:00 a.m. service. As a thank you to the congregation for their year-long support of scouting, the girls served lemonade and Girl Scout cookies in the courtyard, following worship. Several girls in Troop 334 were also recognized for completing their
