Banknote Wine Company is a small, boutique wine producer who sources fruit from some of the very best vineyards in Napa and Sonoma Counties. What makes them truly unique is the fact that they keep their prices within reason, given the quality that's in the bottle. In fact, their wines are often rated on par or better than many California "glamour" wines costing two to three times as much. Perhaps best known for their huge Zinfandel-based blend, "The Vault", it is their "Counterfeit" Cabernet Sauvignon that is my favorite from them.

This wine is a big, rustic and complex Cabernet loaded with dark fruit overtones and features aromas of ripe currant, floral notes with hints of dried herbs, cedar and espresso. The palate is dense and rich with flavors of ripe, wild blackberry and dark fruit flavors complemented by smooth tannins and creamy vanilla oak gaining in depth and intensity, ultimately leading to a long, silky, finesse laden finish of coffee bean, caramel and ripe cherry. This fantastic value has elegance to spare.
