The Qualicum School District would like to wish a warm welcome to all students, parents, and caregivers as we look forward to another school year. Our classrooms and hallways are fully prepared for the school year, thanks to the diligent efforts of our custodial staff. Please check your school and district communications about the first week of learning, and stay updated regarding any upcoming changes. See you out there!

Busing Service is Well on the Way!

Our transportation team has been hard at work updating the bus route system with the help of our new software, and has made significant changes to how we register students, determine pick-up and drop-off locations, and monitor students travelling on the bus. More changes will follow as a result of a more fulsome review to take place later this year.

*Please note that all registered riders have already been notified of their student's bus route, including the time and location for pick-up and drop-off.

Personal Digital Devices

Media has provided significant coverage over the last several months regarding new limits on cell phone use in BC schools and the need for more learning around the impacts of technology.

Please review your school's "Code of Conduct" for updates in support of our updated Policy 700 and its attendant Administration Procedure.

Student Attendance

Schools will be focusing on communication, meaning more letters for sure, but certainly more personal phone calls and conversations. More importantly, it will mean harnessing the Give, Grow, and Belong aspects of the Strategic Plan, and really getting at the barriers that we hear about whenever we talk to students about what prevents them getting to school to Learn. Look for more information from schools as to how you can help support better student attendance in the Qualicum School District

Your Office Team Gearing Up to Welcome the Students Back

School support staff were back at it again this year touching base with senior leadership on school start-up practices. We look forward to seeing all the students' smiling faces next week.

Great news ... we're right on track—literally! It looks like we're sticking to our original timelines to get the track completed. A little rain might slow down the concrete pouring, but we're still on course to wrap things up by the end of November 2024. Stay tuned for the final sprint to the finish line.
