Dear Partner in Ministry,

As we welcome students back to campus this month, I am thankful for our new team of student leaders who are jumping into planning and supporting the LECM community. Ours is a cooperative ministry, and the more we can encourage and empower young adults to lead, the more this becomes truly their community. What a gift to nurture young leaders for the sake of the world!

If you know a young person heading to college this fall, please encourage them to connect with their local campus ministry. Especially for first year students, the transition to campus life can be challenging and overwhelming. Campus ministry can be a place to connect and find belonging in the midst of such a big transition. Helping students get connected is a great way to support them and the work of campus ministry!

I can never say it enough, but we are deeply grateful for your partnership in this work, for your care and prayers for our students, and for being part of our LECM community as we begin a new year together!

Grace and peace,

Pr. Monica

Kaia Duke '24

Hello there! My name is Kaia Duke (she/her), I recently moved from Pasadena, CA, and I’m a second year Speech-Language Pathology student at UNC. I’ve just moved into the LECM house and am excited to live in community with others in the ministry. I love spending time with friends, going to John Galt coffee, and being in the sun whether walking, trail running, swimming, or biking. I’m also the new LECM Congregational Outreach Minister and am looking forward to nourishing and building the relationship between the LECM and all of the congregations who support us!

All the best,

Kaia Duke
