Drop-Off and Pickup Times and Protocols

School Start and End Times

The school day will begin at 8:15 a.m. daily and end at 3:40 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and 3:15 p.m. Fridays. From November 10, 2023-March 8, 2024, Friday dismissal will be at 2:45 p.m. to accommodate the earlier winter Shabbat start times.

Drop-Off Protocol

Drop-off is at 8 a.m. at the main (south) entrance to the Sabes JCC. Staff will be available both outside and inside the building at this time. Classes will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. If arriving after 8:15 a.m., you will need to park and walk your child to the school office.

Early drop-off between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. will be available beginning Tuesday, September 5. Parents must walk their students in.

Pickup Protocol

Pickup will be from 3:40-4 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and from 3:15-3:35 p.m. Fridays. Pickup will be at the back (north) side of the Sabes JCC. Please make sure that the sign with your children's names is clearly displayed on your dashboard in the pickup line. Signs will be handed out at the Heilicher Summer Social and at the parent coffees (see more info below). Returning parents may use their sign from last year.

Heilicher staff will use walkie-talkies to call children down from their classrooms as their parents arrive. Students who are participating in after-school activities or HaBonim will be escorted to their extracurricular programming by school staff.

Communicating Late Drop-Offs or Early Pickups

All known late drop-offs or early pickups should be reported promptly through the Heilicher Communication Center. This reporting portal is critical to keeping our Heilicher faculty and staff informed of student absences. The Heilicher Communication Center has been updated to be more efficient for you.

As noted previously, if you drop your child off after 8:15 a.m., you must park and walk them to the Heilicher office. If you have communicated about an early pickup, your child will wait in the school office at the requested time, and you may walk in and pick them up there. Please note that if you are picking your child up prior to dismissal, we ask that it be at least 30 minutes ahead of the beginning of the dismissal window in order to avoid the dismissal rush.

Back-to-School Parent Coffees

Join us for coffee after drop-off on the mornings of Tuesday, August 29, and Wednesday, August 30. Meet us outside the main entrance from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m.

This is a wonderful way to meet other families in all grades, see old friends, and make new ones.

Heilicher Opening Ceremony

Join us for the Heilicher Opening Ceremony on Thursday, August 31, at 8:30 a.m. in the Manny Fingerhut Auditorium.

Special for incoming eighth-grade and kindergarten/new families: bring your cameras and see our oldest students escorting our newest students into the Heilicher community!

After-School Programs

After-school activities and athletics will begin September 5. HaBonim, after-school care, is available beginning the first week of school.

Keep your eye out for an email with Heilicher's fall after-school offerings.

Immunizations for Kindergarten and Seventh Grade

Kindergarten

Health Services welcomes you and your kindergarten student to Heilicher Minneapolis Jewish Day School. Please know that you will need to provide the school with a clinic record of your child’s completed immunizations before your child can start kindergarten. View the full instructions.

Grade 7

Before entering seventh grade, the State of Minnesota requires each student to be up to date on their immunizations. This includes Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap), and Meningococcal (MCV4). Please check with your doctor to see what is appropriate for your child.

As soon as your child’s immunizations are complete, please contact your clinic and request they fax the records to 952.381.3501 or mail a clinic copy to the school health office:
