President's Message

Dear Friends of Tri-County Scholarship Fund,

This week our 58 Tri-County partner schools are welcoming students back for the start of the 2022-23 school year. Thanks to your generosity Tri-County has provided scholarships this year for 800 financially disadvantaged students in grades K-12 to attend one of our safe, quality, values-based partner schools. Thank you for caring - for giving these students a chance.

The circumstances of poverty are always changing, and unique to the individual family. Over the past two years the COVID pandemic caused many inner-city families to lose their jobs and small businesses. With the help of Tri-County scholarships, these families are struggling back. Your support has made all the difference for their children. Thank you.

This year Tri-County has been able to answer a NEW need: providing emergency scholarships for Ukrainian refugee children who found themselves in New Jersey, having escaped from their war-torn country. We are proud to partner with St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School in Passaic who embraced these refugee children, offering them a nurturing environment and quality education at this most vulnerable time in their lives. Tri-County looks forward to recognizing this wonderful school with the Making a Difference Award at our 41st Annual Awards Dinner on November 1.

Please join us at the Annual Awards Dinner, or at one of our other upcoming events! We will be honoring some outstanding individuals at the Awards Dinner on November 1 and also at the Lawyers for

Tri-County Dinner on September 28.

We look forward to seeing you and thank you for all you do for our grateful scholarship children.

ALUMNI UPDATE: QY'AEIR PRICE

DePaul Catholic High School '22

In 2021, Qy'aeir Price earned NJ.com’s New Jersey Defensive Player of the Year and United White Division Player of the Year. Recruited by Rutgers, Qy'aeir will be starting his freshman year as Defensive Lineman. Last year, he was No. 9 in the Garden State, No. 49 in the country at defensive end and a three-star prospect by ESPN. As a Tri-County scholarship recipient, Qy'aeir achieved honor roll status with his academic performance at DePaul. He started his Rutgers coursework early to get a boost academically in preparation for the rigors of a D1 football program.

80 Tri-County high school scholarship recipients graduated from 19 partner high schools this spring. That’s a 100% high school graduation rate – again! All 80 of them are going onto college, with generous college financial aid packages. NONE of this would have been possible without the generous support of Tri-County donors who encouraged these young people through Tri-County scholarships to safe, quality high school.
