Hello Ken,

Happy first week of school! APS welcomed 50,000 kids back into our classrooms for the new school year. Breaking the summer routine is always a challenge. Special thanks to all the parents out there that set their alarms early to get their kiddos to school on time. I am told it gets easier. We shall see.

Let's get to the updates:

  • August Board Meeting: Monday, August 5 at 2:30 pm. Work session topics include a "signature program" review, a legislative session recap, and a progress monitoring update. The complete agenda is here.
  • APS showed solid improvement in last year's Milestones. For an overview of the district performance, check out this link. And if you really want to dive deep into the raw data, check out the GADOE website here.
  • Join the swearing-in of Dr. Bryan Johnson. Dr. Johnson will officially begin his tenure on Monday, August 5 at 10 am. See it virtually here or register to attend in person here.

Review the bus schedule

Be sure to check your school's bus route and schedule. Alas, disruptions in traffic patterns and ridership may lead to schedule changes during the school year.
