We need all returning SCS students to register before school begins. You can easily do this in LINQ, our online registration system, at bit.ly/register_scs. It’s important for us to have the most current info about your child(ren), so please take a few minutes to review your family's details and update anything that's needed. Even if there are no changes, please still check and confirm that your information is correct. We appreciate your help!
Get Ready for the New School Year
We invite parents and families to join us for open houses at all of our schools Aug. 2-6. Families do not need to stay for the duration of each open house and may come and go when convenient.
To make dinner a little easier on families, the Staunton High School PTSA has organized a Bojangles Restaurant Fundraiser Night for Aug. 5 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Proceeds from purchases at Bojangles during that time will benefit all SCS PTAs and the Dixon Educational Center.

Live Bus Tracking for Families
Real-Time Bus Tracking Available to Parents & Guardians
Staunton City Schools uses the Crosswalk K-12 app by UniteGPS to support school transportation safety. This mobile app lets parents and guardians see their child's bus assignments, track their child's bus location in real time, and see personalized ridership data.
- Your child will receive a student ID badge at school that they'll swipe when they board their bus. This lets you track your child's bus location on the Crosswalk K-12 parent app. Many SCS students have already received a student ID badge that will work for bus onboarding.
-
If you registered last year, you're good to go. Unregistered families should receive a customized email from UniteGPS (unitegps13@unitegps.com) by Friday, Aug. 9 inviting you to create an account. UniteGPS is the company that provides the Crosswalk K-12 system. Please check your spam/junk folder if you don't receive an email by Aug. 9. NOTE: You will only receive an invitation from UniteGPS if your email address is accurate in PowerSchool. Review your email address to be sure it is accurate.
- The link you'll receive will be customized to ensure you are the only person with access to your child's bus route.
-
Please see this video (Español) below for a brief tutorial on setting up your account and the parent app on your mobile phone, desktop or tablet.
-
If you have further questions about how Crosswalk K-12 works, check out these quick facts or contact us at 540.332.3920.

Fueling Success: Staunton City Eats
We are excited to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students again this year. We don't accept cash, but you can add funds to your child's meal account for a la carte options.
Our focus is on providing fresh, whole foods and scratch-cooked meals while reducing or eliminating artificial ingredients.
Check out our new plant-based food offerings this school year!
We're also participating in the SUN Bucks program that helps families with grocery expenses. Each school-age child that meets the program requirements will get a one-time payment of $120. Benefits will be issued either on a family's SNAP EBT card or a pre-loaded Virginia SUN Bucks card that looks just like a debit or credit card and can be used to purchase groceries. See if you qualify.
Jobs & Volunteer Opportunities
If you're interested in volunteering or joining our School Wellness Committee, please contact Amanda Warren, director of school nutrition. School nutrition is also hiring. Contact Amanda for more information or apply online.
