August 18-22, 2014

Back IT UP!

It's Backwards Week!

We are continuing with our progressions and adding basic skills.

Floor Exercise: we will be warming up to parachute fun music. This music is designed to promote listening skills and following directions. On the circuit stations we will be doing such things as backward crab walk to work on upper body strength. Backward rolls off 8" mat and incline mat.

Beam: we will review walking forward in releve' and then move on to backward movement on beam. Basic Skills will walk on low and high beam backwards keeping eyes on end of beam. Also, dismounts from beam with knees bent. Preschool will walk on beam with arms out to arm side middle position. Dismount low beam say "tah-dah". Count 1-2. This allows the student to stick the dismount.

Tumbl Trak: Basic Skills will be introduced to tuck position jumps with arms in high position. Preschool will begin to jump on trak also learning the tuck position we will be gluing our bunny ears on (this is done to keep arms in high position)

* Review and Friend Time: This is an important time as we conclude the class with reviews of words and skills learned for that day. This also gives us a chance to give big hugs and surprises for a job well done.
