What Is the SSC?


"The Student Success Center is a resource for current students majoring in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences. The SSC prepares students for lives of professional accomplishment, civic engagement, personal fulfillment and lifelong learning, and helps to ensure that financial and logistical barriers never stand between a student and their goals. The SSC can assist students with the following: general questions, academic success strategies, finding campus involvement opportunities, major/internship/career exploration and planning, navigating campus resources, student advocacy, etc. Additionally, various events promoted and/or sponsored by the SSC will be held throughout the academic year. Centralized Academic Scholarship Hub (CASH)

 

HURRY AND APPLY:


The Centralized Academic Scholarship Hub, or CASH for short, is the premier place for current and continuing students to apply for university scholarships. Open to all students enrolled in the current academic year, applications are submitted in the current academic year for consideration with award disbursement in the next academic year. CASH opened on Oct. 1, 2022, and will close on Feb. 1, 2023, for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity

Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research through the University of Michigan is offering a three month summer program to immerse and engage students in translational and health disparities research and inspire them to choose a career focused on research. Students will choose one of four tracks: health disparities, clinical, precision health, or regulatory science research. Students will participate in hands-on research projects with U-M research teams and learn the fundamentals of research through individual and team-based learning experiences.



This summer research program is open to students currently enrolled in health-related professional or master's degree programs, including biomedical engineering, dentistry, kinesiology, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health and social work at U-M and other U.S. institutions. Applicants must be either

U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents.


Applications are due by Feb. 1, 2023.

Program & Fellowship Opportunities

The Center for Diversity in Public Health Leadership Training at Kennedy Krieger Institute has several federally funded undergraduate programs and graduate fellowships that are available in 2023. More information can be found below, including the link to apply.

 

Excellence in Mentorship of Under-Represented Groups for Health Equity Leaders Fellowship Program (EMURG)


The EMURG Fellowship is designed to increase knowledge and commitment to careers in the federal public health workforce.

EMURG is a 12-month (full-time/40 hours per week) fellowship for students who:

  • Are in M.A. or Ph.D. program
  • Students who received their master's degree or doctoral degree within 12 calendar months of the EMURG orientation
  • GPA of at least 3.0 GPA
  • Commitment to reducing health disparities
  • Interest in leadership career in the federal government
  • Able to commit to the length of the program (full time/40 hrs per week).

Dr. James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases Research Initiatives for Student Enhancement RISE (Ferguson RISE)


The Ferguson Rise program supports public health research and professional development in infectious diseases and health disparities, focusing on increasing knowledge and interest in public health research careers among students from underrepresented populations.


The Ferguson RISE (12-month and summer) Fellowship Application Deadline is: Tuesday Jan. 31, 2023 (11:59 PM EST)
