A
couple of great
Gainesville
businesses have stepped up to offer space for our Holiday Gift Drive. Sweet Dreams of Gainesville and Wild Birds Unlimited of Gainesville will be drop off sites for items we need for the bats at Lubee. We also strongly encourage you to pick up something for yourself or a loved one when dropping items off at one of these great local stores! The drive will run 11/19/2016-12/19/2016.
We need the following non-perishable items: fruit/vegetable baby food, canned fruits (lychee, rambutan, jackfruit, pineapple, pear, etc), canned nectar drinks, bottled juice (kinds without corn syrup), Pediasure (fruit flavors only), gallons of distilled water, gallons of bleach, gift cards to Publix, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Sam's Club, Amazon, Lucky's, Ward's Supermarket and Gator Paint.
We also are in need of a few more specific items: A new high performance laptop running windows, a 2.1 cu ft (or higher) mini-fridge w/ lock and a DeWalt 12v impact drill.
The final BIG item we are in dire need of here at the conservancy: An RTV for transporting
food and enrichment for the bats and transportation
during our various events. Gatorland Kubota has offered a special discount on a Kubota RTV 400 if purchased through our organization. As a non-profit doing the purchasing this also saves on sales tax keeping the price lower and would be a tax write off for you!
Please contact us directly at 352-485-1250 if you are interested.
Items may also be shipped to 1309 NW 192nd Ave, Gainesville FL, 32609.

Name a baby bat and
support Rodrigues fruit bats!
Lubee Bat Conservancy is proud to announce the recent births of two Malayan flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus) pups. They were born this fall over the course of approximately a month. Lubee staff gives the moms and pups plenty of time to bond before checking the genders and we were just recently able to confirm that we have a boy and a girl! We would like to offer you the rare opportunity to name a baby bat while supporting the Rodrigues Environmental Education Program (REEP)
REEP provides complete financial support of an environmental educator on Rodrigues Island (part of the Mascarene Islands located west of Madagascar). REEP's goals are to provide Rodriguans with opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, values, and commitment needed to protect and improve the environment. These goals are accomplished by working with community organizations, government departments, schools, and the media. These programs ensure that future generations are instilled with the knowledge to save critically endangered species such as the Rodrigues fruit bat. Since its inception in 1998, REEP has accomplished a number of significant achievements including a curriculum developed in collaboration with the Rodriguan education authority, community-action projects, and NGO collaborative events.

With this in mind we are seeking pledges of $500 or greater to sponsor this rewarding program and as a thank you, you will be able to name one of the recently born baby bats. As they grow, your pup will be an ambassador for its species and the habitats we strive to protect. You will also receive a framed and personalized "Adopt-a-Bat" portfolio featuring a photo of the bat that you named and a certificate imprinted with the chosen name.
Please email info
@lubee.org to arrange your special pledge and use Baby Bat in the subject line
