Baboon study: Monday's the day!
We all have our tickets to head down South on Monday for the baboon study (it got delayed a week so we could send the polymer out for some additional safety testing first). The baboons are in the U.S. South, because that's where it's warm enough for them to live outdoors. Don, the scientist who did the rabbit study, is flying down from Chicago to demonstrate for the facility's vet; Linda, Parsemus Foundation's grants manager and also a primate welfare expert, is driving over from the Houston area; and Elaine, Parsemus Foundation's director, will be observing and videotaping for posterity. We're pretty excited!

We've sent out a little thank-you to our earliest Vasalgel donors ($10 or more contributions through 12-26-13) -- nothing fancy, just a token of our appreciation and, hopefully, something to show off to your friends. For those of you who have donated already, it should be showing up in your mailbox this week. Let us know what you think! We also expect to be sending these thank you's to baboon study donors of $20 or more going forward - as long as supplies last.

Meet the team!
Who's behind the Vasalgel effort? There are nine of us, plus advisors, most of us donating or nearly donating our time. Here are a few:
  • Gary, our regulatory guru, keeps us on track with what's needed for FDA and E.U. approval. He is head of Seraphim Life Sciences and has done consulting for one of the largest foundations.
  • Don, who ran the rabbit study, is a toxicologist and professor of pharmacology affiliated with Loyola University and the University of Illinois and has been following polymer contraception since 2002.
  • Dave, our science guy, is coordinating safety testing and regulatory planning and generally holding lots of pieces of the project together. In his previous life, he founded and ran a large pathology laboratory.
We're glad to be working on your behalf!
