Sponsorship Opportunities
Babcock Ranch prides itself on hosting fun and engaging events for our residents and the surrounding area. We love having opportunities for our community to come out and spend some time with their neighbors, and it is always more fun if it is free for them to attend!

To continue to provide low or no-cost events, we love to partner up with businesses and groups who will benefit by getting their name out there to hundreds of potential clients. By sponsoring an event, you will be sure to get the attention of our guests. Our sponsors are advertised through various outlets, including social media, community news, banners, and more.

You can be a partner in multiple ways, from monetary endorsements to product or service donations. If you are a non-profit, ask us how we can partner with you to support your cause at our next event!
Volunteers Needed for Water
Quality Sampling
Periodically, all community water systems, including Town and Country Utilities (TCU), are required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to measure lead and copper levels in their drinking water.

We are looking for residents throughout Babcock Ranch to volunteer to participate in our area-wide sampling program to test for the presence of lead and copper in our drinking water. (Please note: Homes with Water conditioning equipment are not eligible to participate due to those systems altering the water quality coming from TCU).

Your willingness to participate is crucial to monitoring the levels of lead in drinking water within the TCU distribution system. These samples help assess whether lead and copper are present and, if so, what steps should be taken to minimize a customer’s exposure through drinking water. The public water system is also required to continue using the same sites each monitoring period unless plumbing changes have been made so that the site no longer meets the required criteria. The public water system will analyze the water sample free of charge and notify you of the results within 30 days from receipt.
Sampling will transpire on a quarterly basis in 2024 – during the months of February, May, August, and November. Participating households will need to ensure they are available during those months.

If you would like to volunteer to participate in this testing, please click here to visit our website. Once on our website, click the link on the home page to sign up for Lead and Copper Water testing. We will contact you regarding the sample collection process. I thank you for your cooperation and participation in this upcoming year’s lead and copper study.
Additional Volunteers are still needed for this testing of the water quality within Babcock Ranch. If you have already signed up - Thank you! If you have not signed up but have had trouble with the website application, please reach out to rbradbury@tcufl.com with your name, address, and phone number to be added to the list.

Wildlife Photo of the Week:
Snowy Egret
Snowy Egret in the evening sun along the shoreline
Species: Snowy Egret (Egretta thula)

Photographer: John Hutzler

Location: Babcock Ranch

Christina's Take: Insights from Babcock Ranch Environmental Mitigation Manager Christina Kontos:

  • A native wading bird species that stands at a height of 26 inches with a beautiful white body, long slender neck, black legs, bright yellow feet, and yellow skin around the eyes and the base of their sharp black bill.
  • Historically, the snowy egret was overhunted for their elegant long wispy breeding plumage, which was used for women's hats and clothing, leading to severe population declines and therefore led to its protection by the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
  • As the snowy egret hunts for prey, they often display some entertaining behavior as they wade in shallow water to spear fish, frogs, worms, crustaceans, and insects.
  • While these birds are regularly seen engaging in a sit-and-wait technique to capture their prey, other times, they prefer to be much more animated as they run back and forth through the water with their wings spread, chasing prey until they successfully feast on their successful capture! They even use their bright yellow feet to stir up or round up small aquatic critters as they forage.
  • The snowy egret also nests in colonies alongside other wading bird species within thick vegetation found in isolated areas, including barrier islands, salt marsh islands, swamps, and marshes.
  • Both the male and female build a nest that consists of a platform of sticks and take turns incubating their eggs and caring for the young when they hatch.
