The PKWY's Bark Park Opens on August 24th

We are thrilled to announce that Bark Park officially opens on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The first of six exhilarating parks to open in The PKWY, Bark Park is a pooch playground that’s sure to become a favorite destination for pets and their people. Perfect for enjoying the dog days of summer, the park features designated play areas for small and large dogs, agility equipment, shade pavilions, watering stations, restrooms, and a pet memorial.

A collection of six new innovative parks nestled in the heart of MidTown, The PKWY spans approximately 313 acres of lush preserve space along Babcock Trail and offers custom park equipment, themed playgrounds, grassy mounds, and multipurpose fields for picnics and community gatherings. A sneak peek video of The PKWY is available here.

Hillcrest Park, with a two-story observation tower built on an impressive hill showcasing scenic views, will be the next park to open. Hillcrest Park also features additional grassy mounds (the kind for rolling down), hillside slides and climbing nets.

With over three acres of water, The Lagoon promises hours of catch-and-release fishing fun. It offers easy access to fishing areas, including a fishing pier with a floating dock plus a shade pavilion, restrooms, and a crushed shell walking path circling the lake. The Lagoon is slated to open in Fall 2024.

Openings of the final three parks along The PWKY, Bluebird Park, Palmetto Park, and Explorers Park, will shortly follow. We’re excited to provide you with details and updates on their current progress:

  • Scheduled for completion later this year, Bluebird Park will feature grassy mounds, bluebird-themed amenities and innovative playground equipment. Paving and shelter construction are complete, and the restroom and playground are currently underway.
  • Also, scheduled for completion later this year, Palmetto Park is geared for play with multipurpose fields, a covered basketball court, exercise areas, and equipment, a super-sized splash pad with an overhead waterfall, a two-story treehouse-themed playground, afforested picnic shelters, and more. The parking lot is paved, and the shade structures are complete. The basketball court, playground, and fitness area are in progress.
  • Explorers Park is a fully inclusive park for people of all abilities. This one-of-a-kind park features a playground with custom equipment that will allow the imagination to run wild, including enormous alligator-shaped play structures. Special sensory areas will be installed, including a 3-D simulation of a Florida panther and cub, along with a sensory farm park. This extraordinary playground is scheduled for completion in early 2025. The farmstand is currently underway, and an impressive community garden is sure to please residents with a green thumb. Paving and shelter construction are complete, and construction of the restroom building is ongoing.

For safety reasons, residents are strictly PROHIBITED from accessing the unopen parks in The PKWY as they are active construction sites. No exceptions will be permitted under any circumstances. Please be aware that active construction sites within Babcock Ranch can be dangerous, particularly around operational heavy machinery.

As always, your safety is our top priority. We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation while we continue construction on The PKWY and will keep you updated on its progress and park openings.
