Just like Buffalo Days the rodeo is held rain or shine! If it is raining tomorrow, we will meet under the shelter if light rain, or inside the Civic Center if raining hard. Let's support them despite the weather and see and hear all about our 70-year-old rodeo!

Remember to get your tickets here: www.buffalorodeo.com

Please register by this Friday, June 21st for meal count. Looking forward to hearing what our Legislative Representatives have to say. Let's make a good showing as they take time out to gather with us.

BUFFALO DAYS 2024

Despite some issues with carnival rides being down, rain coming down, and porta pots being in the wrong place - Buffalo Days was still a celebratory event for the community to enjoy!

Melissa and I want to thank EVERYONE who helped make it possible. The City of Buffalo Parks, Streets and Police Department were unwavering in the weather! You may not realize the number of barricades needed, the number of picnic tables moved, keeping the park clean, spraying for mosquitos, the manpower and hours to safely host the beer garden and parade and more! The Chamber relies heavily on our City staff for every day of the event!

To the sponsors! Truly without your generosity, the event could not take place. Just like many Chamber events, success is based on sponsorship! Though too many to list - we thank you! The Buffalo American Legion gives enough to pay for more than half of the fireworks alone, which we know everyone enjoys!

To the many volunteers - my Chamber Board, Gary and Lana Fabel, Lyne and Tony Daniels, the Ortmann family, Anita Underberg, the large team of volunteers from Buffalo Youth Shooting Sports, Gary Trogstad and his crew at Insurance Center of Buffalo, the Lakeside Academy boys and more. To SWTV and our parade narrators too - Thanks Laureen Bodin and Randy Latzig. Many hands make light work - thank you!

To the community... thank you for showing up for the parade which we delayed just a half hour. In the end - we all got wet - but everyone was happy. After some Facebook negativity, it was an encouragement to all involved, to see that this event truly brings smiles to young and old alike! It's about the sense of community - which was felt parade night.

So Buffalo Days 2024 is in the books! Hope you enjoyed some or all of the festivities!

AMBASSADORS ON THE MOVE

TIMBER BAY

The Ambassador group met with Ben and Leah of Timber Bay, at Ben's home. Timber Bay is a Christian organization that has been in Buffalo for nearly 30 years, serving middle school and high school at risk kids. They used to have their own location for many years, but the last 6 years have been meeting at the Covenant Church, Buffalo Evangelical Free Church or Ben's home with some smaller groups.

They serve the kids through weekly large group times (always looking for volunteers to serve meals - businesses or personally - in the summer maybe just grill hotdogs), through Timber Bay camp 6 to 8 times a year, or through one on one or small group scenarios, such as working on the truck seen in the photo below. Kids - guys and gals alike - feel great pride in working on and completing a project. This truck is a 1978 Chevy Scottsdale C-10. In the end, they hope someone will buy the truck and they can purchase another vehicle and start all over again.

The goal is to build relationships and be a mentor and simply show that they are loved. The staff like Ben and Leah, and volunteers there, are adults helping struggling kids do life. They can always use volunteer help - you must believe in the Timber Bay vision and again -simply show love to these kids.

The kids they serve are referred to them through the schools, law enforcement, churches, mental health resources or word of mouth - as kids bring other kids.

Thanks Ben, for having us at your home and sharing your passion for your work, the kids, and the truck!
