Dear Parents,

CALENDAR CHANGE!

We are switching our Professional Development Day in March.

Teachers will attend a Collaboration Day on Friday, March 8…THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL.

On Monday, March 11, we will have a regular school day. (We understand that families may have made travel plans based on our original calendar and we will be accommodating.)

Last Saturday, as a culmination of Catholic Schools Week, we had a beautiful Confirmation ceremony with our 8th grade students. They came back this week fully imbued with the Holy Spirit. We were proud of them and excited to share this step in their spiritual journey.

Next week, we begin Lent. This is a time for reflection and sacrifice in preparation for Easter. We will be having a food collection to kick off Lent. Please send in a non-perishable food item either Wednesday or Thursday for us to donate to the parish food drive.

Reminder: Parent workshop on smartphones. Wednesday, February 21 at 7:00 PM.

Faithfully,

Chris Kelly

KIDS, SMARTPHONES, AND SOCIAL MEDIA

"WHY WAITING IS BEST

(AND WHAT TO DO IF YOU DIDN'T)"

Jeremy Joseph

Wednesday, February 21st, 7pm

BSS School Auditorium

One of the biggest sources of stress for parents today is around

when to give kids smartphones and social media, then managing the fallout.

As a busy parent, do you: Know about the new, safe (and less expensive) alternatives to smartphones?  Know the latest research showing the many ways smartphones and social media harm your child's mental and physical health, development, and physical safety? Worry about social media algorithms addicting and manipulating your kids? Want to learn concrete, specific best practices and solutions we can all adopt to keep our kids and community healthier and safer?

Join local parent Jeremy Joseph for a presentation/Q&A towards busy parents/caregivers of elementary and middle school kids where he will help answer these questions with the latest research, expert opinion, and universally recommended best practices.
