A BRIEF REVIEW

March 2024

What's In A Name?

BRIEF stands for Blue Ridge Innovation and Entrepreneurship Foundation.

This non-profit STEM organization was founded to inspire kids living in upstate South Carolina to imagine becoming innovators and entrepreneurs.

Many people living in this area of the state don’t know that one-third of pre-K – 12 students in Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, and Pickens counties live in poverty.

These kids are often dealing with stress associated with family crises, and in many cases, with not having enough food to eat. Most of the school-age children and young adults we serve haven’t given much thought to what they’ll be when they grow up.

Since 2021, BRIEF has committed to helping these kids see real possibilities for brighter futures:

By providing hands-on technology, robotics and computer science education at schools and community centers across the region, the BRIEF team of volunteers and donors is taking advantage of the brief time available to connect with, teach, help shape—and make the kind of difference that changes lives.

The word “brief” has a second meaning that applies to how our non-profit organization works. A brief contains the essential instructions needed to prepare a person for a critical task. Used often in the business world and the military, when our volunteers brief the young people we serve, they provide them with basic information needed to help them understand they can pursue a viable career.

BRIEF is committed to working with young people living right here in our communities. Helping every student we work with identify their God-given gifts—and open their eyes to career possibilities—is what this organization is all about.
