BRHD Outreach Network Kicks off this Week!

This week, we officially kicked off the BRHD Outreach Network! More than 30 outreach professionals attended our kickoff event and had the opportunity to meet one another, network, and begin building relationships to benefit the community, learn about the goals of the network, and provide input on the direction of the year ahead.

This professional network will provide an opportunity for our District’s outreach professionals to network, collaborate, learn about other resources in the community, participate in trainings, and access continuing education opportunities. We are thrilled for such a strong start!

If you are an outreach professional or supervise similar positions within the District (Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, or Nelson), we welcome you to join our BRHD Outreach Network. For more information, call 434-962-4293 or email Jennifer Reilly, BRHD Outreach Network Coordinator.

Halloween Safety Tips

The pumpkins are carved, the costumes have been picked out, and Halloween is almost here! Make sure you’re ready for treats and no tricks with these safety tips:

On the Candy Trail

  • Always accompany young children
  • Only trick-or-treat at houses with the lights on
  • Never enter a home or car for candy
  • Bring a flashlight

At Home

  • Clear your porch/yard of tripping hazards
  • Sweep any wet leaves off the walking path
  • Turn on your porch lights
  • Keep pets on a leash

And most importantly, don’t give out candy if you’re not feeling well. Instead, place a bowl of candy with hand sanitizer on your porch instead! The same goes for trick-or-treaters… stay home if you’re not feeling well. Worried about staying home and missing out on all the goodies? Tag a buddy to collect treats for you!
