The Blue Ridge Health District invites you to celebrate the new location of our Louisa County Health Department! This special open house event will be held on Tuesday, January 23, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the new Louisa County Health Department offices (101 Woolfolk Avenue, Louisa VA 23093).  

 

Louisa County Health Department staff will be offering guided tours of our new home, including stops to learn more about our many programs, services, and incredible team. Attendees are also invited to smile for a special group photo at 12:15 PM and enjoy light refreshments throughout the event. 

 

Any and all community members are welcome to visit our new home, meet our team, and learn about the exciting things - new and old - happening at the Louisa County Health Department.

Visit Test & Go for Free STI Testing

Test & Go is a special monthly clinic that provides free screenings for sexually transmitted infections... and it returns next week! 


Test & Go will be held on Tuesday, January 16 from 4:30-6:00 PM (or until capacity is reached) and will continue to be held on the 3rd Tuesday each month. Simply enter at Door #1 of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department (1138 Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville 22903) and the team will be ready to get your registered, no appointment necessary. BRHD Test & Go. Free Walk-in STI Testing. 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4;30 - 6:00 PM beginning January 16, 2024. First come, first served. Limited capacity. We provide free testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis B & C. Exams and treatment are not available at this event. Location: Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department. 1138 Rose Hill Drive Entrance #1, Charlottesville VA 22903. STI testing is free for everyone! No ID needed. Free safer sex items like condoms, dental dams, and lube will be available. For more information, call 434-972-6269.

Get Your Vaccines During Immunization Clinics

It’s not too late for Flu and COVID-19 vaccines. In fact, being immunized is one of the best defenses against sever infections this season. Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are now offered during our local health departments’ standard immunization clinics. Appointments are required for immunizations and can be made by calling your local health department. Visit our Immunizations webpage for more information on our clinic offerings, including immunizations. 

You can get the flu and COVID vaccines at the same time. It’s safe and convenient.

Blue Ridge Rapid (BRR) is a program at BRHD that provides free rapid HIV and Hepatitis C tests, in-home HIV test kits, safer sex items, education, and more. This month, BRR is excited to launch a new monthly newsletter, too!

Join Our Infant Safety Class, Baby!

Free Infant Safety Class for new and expecting families. Grandparents included! When: Saturday, January 13 from 10:00 to 12:00 PM. Where: Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department (1138 Rose Hill Dr, Charlottesville VA 22903). Enter via Door #3. What to expect: medication safety, friends & family CPR (non-certification), choking hazard prevention, room-by-room home baby proofing, and local resources. Questions? Contact Diane Sampson. Tomorrow, Saturday January 13 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, our Maternal Child Health (MCH) Program is hosting an in-person comprehensive Infant Safety Class! This class is free and open to any new or expecting parents, grandparents, family members, or others who may be caring for newborns in our District.  

 

This event will take place inside the Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department (1138 Rose Hill Dr, Charlottesville). Enter through Door #3. Pre-registration is required - fill out the Infant Safety Class Registration Form on our website to RSVP. For any questions, email Diane Sampson, BRHD Maternal and Child Health Program Coordinator. 

Plan Ahead for BRHD Closures

BRHD offices will be closed Monday, January 15, 2024 in observation of Martin Luther King Day. We will resume operations on Tuesday, January 16 at 8:00 AM. 


Our offices will also close at 12:00 PM on Friday January 19, 2024 for staff training. We will resume operations on Monday, January 22 at 8:00 AM.
