If you are like I am, you find yourself getting on many email lists from businesses. If I sign up for a rewards program, order something online, or inquire about a service, it seems that I am then added to their email list and receive endless emails with special offers and opportunities. My Amazon Alexa even keeps track of what products I use and sends me reminders when I may possibly need to reorder or suggestions of something I may wish to order. The challenge which presents itself is wading through the spam emails and watching for something which may truly be important.
I am led this week to consider communication which may be coming from the Lord. How do I wade through all the different communications which I receive in a given day or week, and determine where the Lord's voice may be in the midst of the words and sounds that are bombarding me? The Lord often speaks through the voices of others, so it is important to sort through all of the voices around me to determine if a message is being shared with me. Like sorting through my emails to separate the unhelpful spam to find the important messages, I need to take the time to sort through conversations and interactions with others to see if the Lord may be sharing a message which is important.
How do you hear the Lord in the midst of the conversations around you and with you? What might be the important message you do not wish to miss? Are you asking the Spirit to open your heart, mind and ears to hear the Lord? I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter so email, call, or speak to me and share your thoughts.
Also, we are now using multiple ways to communicate with you from Balmoral Presbyterian Church. If you have not added us on Facebook or Instagram, please do so today. Be sure to set your email preferences so that Balmoral PC is a priority sender.
Blessings,
Pastor Mark
