YEAR IN REVIEW 2023
BOMA California Releases 2023 Annual Legislative Report

This year proved to be an active one for the California Legislature, and our advocates in Sacramento were hard at work making our voices heard. BOMA California has released the 2023 Annual Legislative & Regulatory Report to recap all of the activity.

Nearly 3000 bills were introduced, with 890 signed into law. BOMA engaged with over 200 legislative bills, including bills that would undermine our ballot measure to restore taxpayer protections and eliminate the Upland Loophole, which allowed Santa Monica’s and LA’s new transfer taxes to pass.
ELECTION 2024
What is Proposition 1?

The next statewide election is on March 5th, with ballots set to be mailed just before Valentine's Day. Nothing more romantic than filling out ballots! Depending on your city or city council district, your holiday cards may be mixed in with some political mail.

However, no matter where you live in California, you will be asked to weigh in on Proposition 1. The potentially impactful ballot measure would, if passed, expand California’s capacity to treat mental illness and substance abuse. It would also authorize nearly $6.4 billion in bonds to fund housing for homeless individuals and veterans suffering from mental illness or substance abuse disorders.

It enjoys support from the California Business Properties Association and the California Chamber of Commerce.
