A Note From Bill and Sarah

Dear BK Families,

Bishop Kelly's Welcome Back BBQ has been a tradition for more than 37 years. This is a family event hosted by the Bishop Kelly Parent Ambassadors on Wednesday, August 28 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. on Lachiondo Family Plaza inside Nick Ysursa Stadium.

At 5:00 p.m. we will begin serving free food for BK families. The Spirit Store will be open, and we will be selling athletic passes. There will be opportunities to sign up to get involved in the school community, and we have a free gift for all new families. This is a great opportunity to build community by meeting and socializing with other families enrolled at Bishop Kelly.

At 6:10 p.m., the Bishop Kelly Band, Cheerleaders, and Dance team will be performing.

At 6:30 p.m., we will provide some all school information in Carley Center.

At 7:00 p.m., you will have an opportunity to follow your student's schedule and meet all of their teachers.

Period 1  7:00 - 7:06

Period 2  7:10 - 7:16

Period 3  7:20 - 7:26

Period 4 7:30 - 7:36

Period 5  7:40 - 7:46

Period 6  7:50 - 7:56

Period 7  8:00 - 8:06

 Closing Prayer

Have your student write down their schedule, or copy it from Infinite Campus. We can't wait to see you on August 28th!

For parents who also have elementary and middle school children, and want to bring the whole family to the Welcome Back BBQ, there will be a supervised Movie Watching party in the cafeteria during the Back to School Knight portion of the evening. Drop your younger kiddos off while you attend your BK Student's classes.

God Bless and Go Knights!

Bishop Kelly's House System

What is the House System?

The House System at Bishop Kelly is a structured and purposeful approach to relationship building that takes place twice a week for 40 minutes. It’s designed to foster a sense of community, belonging, and mentorship among our students throughout their high school journey.

Here’s how it works:

  • Family Structure: Each student is placed into a “Family,” which is a small group consisting of a few seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. Each Family typically has around 20 students.
  • House Community: Each Family belongs to a larger community known as a “House,” made up of six Families. This multi-level structure ensures that every student is part of a close-knit group while also being connected to a broader community.
  • Continuous Support: Students stay in the same Family and with their faculty leader for all four years of high school. This continuity creates a “home base” where students can find consistent support, encouragement, and mentorship.

During House sessions, students engage in a variety of activities such as playing games, participating in service projects, and enjoying meals together. Our aim is to make this time meaningful by focusing on four key pillars: faith, family, food, and fun.

Students had their first experience with their Families this week, and we’re excited to see these bonds grow stronger over the years.

The BK Cafe

Value Meals in the BK Cafe!

Did you know that the BK Cafe has a new Value Meal at lunch every day? Value meals are always $4.00. Just like Knight's Meals, Value Meals always include a FREE piece of fruit and carton of milk.

Some examples of Value Meals:

  • Chicken Strips, Fruit, and Milk
  • A Hotdog, Chips, Fruit, and Milk
  • A Burrito, Fruit, and Milk
  • A Quesadilla, Fruit, and Milk

Currently, Value Meals are being served in line 4, which is the line furthest from the entrance to the cafetera. Value Meals are a great option for students with smaller appetites, students who are sticking to a budget, or students who buy multiple a la carte items at lunch time.

PRO TIP: Line 4 usually has a shorter line.
