Hoyoon Song
Community/Partnership
Hoyoon Song recently received the Youth of the Year award at the annual Meridian Stars Awards Ceremony. The Meridian Stars Awards provide Mayor Simison and Meridian City Councilmembers an opportunity to recognize and honor exceptional individuals and organizations who demonstrate a commitment to preserving, maintaining, and improving the quality of life in the community.
In his remarks about Hoyoon, Councilmember John Overton stated,
“Our Youth of the Year stands out as an exemplary young leader in his community. He is a wonderful musician active in orchestra, a swimmer, a youth commissioner on Meridian’s own Transportation Commission, and last year, he served as a leader in the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council—and played an important role in introducing his fellow students to learn more about and get involved with local government.”
Additionally, Hoyoon has been named a Semifinalist in the 2023-2024 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Only 1,514 Semifinalists were chosen among 103,800+ applicants this year because of their outstanding leadership, academic achievements, and dedication to their community. Hoyoon moves on to the next stage of the recognition program.
Congratulations and good luck Hoyoon! BK is very proud to have you representing us in the community.

Attendance Office Procedures | |
-
Parents are asked to email the school’s Attendance Office before 9:30am on the day a student will be absent from class for all or part of the school day due to an illness or an appointment. That email is attendance@bk.org
-
Bishop Kelly is a closed campus. If students need to leave school for any reason, parents must notify the Attendance Office by emailing attendance@bk.org before school.
- Students must sign-out when they leave campus during the school day, and sign back in when they return. They will be asked for verification of any professional appointments upon returning to school. (i.e. a doctor’s note)
