"Industry Connection" is your source for curated quarterly industry content designed to keep you in the know. The BIA Hawaii board of directors recently approved the “Professional Women in Building Council for Hawaii” part of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Professional Women in Building Council. This new BIA affiliation opens many doors and exciting possibilities for Hawaii women in the industry as it will connect us to a 60-year-old national organization whose mission is to “make meaningful strides to build a more diverse workforce, mentor the next generation of female building professionals, and bring awareness to the important role women serve in the residential construction industry.”

BIA President Hinano Nahinu has been chosen to lead the Hawaii Council. She is excited for how this new affiliation will expand BIA’s reach and influence and is honored to be part of this new chapter in BIA’s history.

We had a great turnout for our first Pau Hana of 2024, held at 87ZERO by HPM at the Nā Lama Kukui Lifestyle and Design Center on Nimitz Highway.

BIA members and guests were immersed in the opulence of Smart Cucina and Ernestomeda cabinetry, complemented by premium appliances from prestigious brands such as Miele, Bosch, and more. We were treated to a tour through the showrooms and had an opportunity to network. The evening was topped off with food, drinks and door prizes.

Save the date for BIA's next Pau Hana on June 19th; details will be announced soon!

BIA Hawaii is proud of our 2023 Board President, Sarah Love, for her recognition in Hawaii Business Magazine's prestigious 20 For The Next 20. Read the full article in the link below.

Congratulations Sarah!

20 For The Next 20

I had the pleasure of attending the International Builders Show and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show last month in Las Vegas, celebrating 80 years of showcasing the latest building and design trends. The event scale was awe-inspiring, with over 120,000 attendees and 2,400 exhibitors occupying one million net square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibits.

One of the trends that caught my attention was Kohler's new color collection, which featured shades of green inspired by nature. The collection included everything from sinks to tubs to toilets, all in a range of green hues. It was refreshing to see such a bold use of color.

Overall, I left the show feeling inspired and excited about the building industry's future. The International Builders Show and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show provided an unparalleled opportunity to network, learn, and discover the latest trends and developments in the field. I can't wait to see what the next 80 years will bring!
