Fairfield-Suisun USD To Hike Fee
The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District is proposing an increase in its Level II school impact fee by 84 cents per sq. ft., or from $4.01 to $4.85. The higher rate is reflected in the district's updated school facility needs analysis.

The district is accepting public comment on the fee proposal until 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2016. Send comments to: Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Facilities & Construction Dept., 2490 Hilborn Road, Fairfield, CA 94534. The district's governing board will hold a public hearing on the fee adjustment on the evening of Sept. 8, 2016. If adopted, the new fee will be effective immediately.

East Bay RPC To Talk Candidates

The City of Antioch has been awarded a $680,000 grant to develop a Habitat Conservation Plan, which is intended to operate exactly as, and be managed by, the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy. A decade ago, Antioch opted out of the East County HCP during its development but city leaders recently changed their minds. During the interim planning period, the East Contra Costa HCP board has agreed to "loan" Antioch environmental coverage for a maximum of 750 acres. Full Story

Foster City Takes a Pass on Affordable Housing Impact Fees
Nearly one year ago the Foster City Council reviewed a "21 Elements" nexus study and a City Staff recommendation for an affordable housing impact fee (AHIF) of $80 per square foot on all new rental residential. At the study session last August, BIA opposed any fee, pointing out that the nexus study uses a flawed methodology and arguing that AHIF leads to higher housing costs. Full Story
