Lisa Bugenske, AP Physics 1
This week in AP Physics 1, we are learning about how unbalanced forces affect the acceleration of objects with special emphasis on cases where forces may be at angles. In the lab, students are visiting stations designed to practice finding component forces that are either parallel or perpendicular to ramp surfaces, a real-world application of their trigonometry skills. Each station is set up so that students can check their own answers. For example, they can use Newton’s second law to find the mass of a cart and then actually put the cart on a scale to see if they are on the right track.
