BHI Barge Notice

The BHI Barge (click HERE for the BHI Barge website) is scheduled to be shut down for routine maintenance Wednesday, May 3, through Friday, May 5, and reopening on Monday, May 8. Due to the barge shut down, some UPS and FedEx package delivery may be delayed. For notices regarding postal delivery and packages, check the Village of BHI's Facebook page HERE.

Questions and Concerns about Ferry Baggage

and Carry-on Items

To help with questions and concerns regarding baggage and carry-on items, read an article from the May 2023 Island Report HERE. You can also click on the document image.

For questions and concerns about ferries, baggage and carry-on items, contact Bion Stewart, Chief Operating Officer for Bald Head Island Transportation, at 910-363-0527.

The North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) regulates BHI's ferries and trams, and the NCUC ruled on December 30, 2022 to determine BHI's parking and barge as public utility status, with regulation by the NCUC. Note that an appeal to this ruling was filed by BHI Transportation/BHI Limited and Sharpvue Capital on January 30, 2023. HERE is the NCUC Public Staff's web page regarding transportation. If BHI Transportation does not handle your questions/concerns/complaints to your satisfaction, HERE is the NCUC formal complaint process.
