BHA's Design Guidelines Plant List

The Coastal Landscapes Initiative (CLI) recently held a webinar about eco-friendly alternatives to harmful ornamental plants for coastal North Carolina areas, which includes Bald Head Island. The CLI website and recorded webinar are great resources for understanding the importance of native plants when implementing a landscape plan for your home on BHI. Native plants support indigenous wildlife, habitats, ecosystem function and ecosystem services.

BHA's Design Guidelines require that a minimum of 70% of new plant material be native to BHI. Up to 20% of the plant material may be NC native. The use of non-native plant material is limited to a maximum of 10% of the plan. The Design Guidelines plant list also identifies invasive plants which are not permitted in your landscape plan. Join us on Earth Day (Saturday, April 22) for our next Island Litter Sweep! Meet at 10:00am in front of Room Service (4 Maritime Way) for gloves, grabbers and litter bags. Participants will be treated to water and fresh fruit, and every volunteer receives a reusable shopping bag.

Yoga Classes

Ongoing ~ Mondays and Wednesdays

11:45am-1:00pm

Yoga classes taught by Pam Moulin are held in BHA's Association Center (111 Lighthouse Wynd) on Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:45am-1:00pm.

Pam has 36 years of experience as a fitness instructor and 19 years of experience as a yoga instructor, and she's been teaching yoga on Bald Head Island for 13 years. All levels are welcome. Classes are $20, and participants must bring their own yoga mat. Pam requires that all participants show proof of vaccination against Covid-19. For all new participants, it's strongly suggested to email Pam beforehand (and let her know of any physical limitations) at pammoulin@ec.rr.com.

BHA's Board of Directors invites property owners and others to view its monthly public meetings remotely via Zoom. Board meetings are typically held the second Friday of each month beginning at 11:00am EDT.
