Seventh graders reflect on their family's heritage - CORA Program
Whether we are aware of it or not, our cultural roots shape our beliefs, values, and identity. Yet, for many young students, the significance of their cultural heritage may not be fully understood. That's where our Middle School Curriculum, CORA, comes in.
CORA stands for Cultural Origins Reflected in Arts, and it's a ten-session program designed to guide our seventh-grade students in reflecting on their heritage, cultural and family history. Through this program, BHGH hopes to inspire students to explore and celebrate their cultural identity through artistic expression.
Each session of CORA includes an art component and at the end of the ten sessions, the students will have the opportunity to showcase their work in an exhibit, accompanied by an oral presentation. This gives students the chance to not only show off their art, but also to share their personal stories and connections to their cultural heritage.
