Six Young Entrepreneurs Graduate from SSEP

On August 22nd, six young entrepreneurs graduated from the Summer Student Entrepreneur Program (SSEP), an eight-week program designed to develop Bermuda’s next wave of entrepreneurs.

Minister Jason Hayward offered words of encouragement, while BEDC Executive Director Erica Smith closed the event, wishing the graduates well and reminding them that BEDC will continue to support them.

Entrepreneurs Elevate their Finances

BEDC, in partnership with Abacus, launched the “QuickBooks 101: Master Your Business Finances” course. This four-week program aims to equip entrepreneurs and small business owners with the skills to manage their finances using QuickBooks Online confidently.

Participants will learn how to set up accounts, track expenses, and generate financial reports, which will give them the tools to take full control of their business finances.

Court Street Market

The Court Street Market Music & Food Festival is set to take place on Sunday, September 1, 2024, offering a full day of entertainment and culinary delights. Nearly half (49%) of business owners in Bermuda, as reported by a BEDC-commissioned Bermuda Omnibus Survey, identified financial support as essential when starting a business. Bermuda Showcased at GEC+

The BEDC led a delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress Plus (GEC+) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in July, joined by the Economic Development Department (EDD) and Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA).

BEDC Chairman Jache Adams highlighted Bermuda’s entrepreneurial efforts at the Startup Nations Ministerial, while Jamillah Lodge moderated a panel on leveraging the Caribbean’s unique strengths in global innovation. The BEDC’s participation aimed to showcase Bermuda and build partnerships to support local small and medium-sized businesses.
