The Chequamegon Bay is a special place for artists. Some choose to live here surrounded by the peace and beauty of the Northwoods; others visit seeking inspiration from the natural wonders of the Apostle Islands sea caves and Lake Superior. The community celebrates this unique connection to the arts during the 61st Annual Bayfield Festival of Arts weekend. Events include fine art vendors. 



This juried art show is held in Memorial Park on the scenic shores of Lake Superior in downtown Bayfield. Visitors will find a unique selection of pottery, painting, jewelry, sculpture, glassworks, wood carvings, photography and more.

From painters, jewelers, potters, and sculptors to woodworkers and performers, Bayfield’s high-quality art scene is worth celebrating.“Art Escape” is a nine-day celebration of all things art across Bayfield County and Madeline Island held September 7 - 15, 2024.

Twenty-seven Bayfield Chamber members from Cornucopia, Bayfield, Madeline Island, Washburn, and Benoit have selected a poem to post 24/7 for your reading enjoyment during the month of September. A map of poem locations is posted at the Chamber and at participating locations. A new feature this year is a QR code on each poem page, which, when scanned, provides a Google map of poem locations.

To participate in the random drawing for Bayfield Chamber "bucks," pick up an entry form at the Chamber or any participating business, and write down the titles of at least 22 poems. Turn in the entry form by 5 p.m. on September 30 to the always-open Bayfield Chamber (find the box for entry submissions).

This event is scheduled to overlap with Art Escape (September 7–15) and with Bayfield Festival of Arts (September 7&8).

The Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau is pleased to partner with Kim and Quito Rymer on the Bayfield Apple Festival Music Match Fund. The fund, established in 2021 alongside former Bayfield Mayor Gordon Ringberg, allows our community, businesses, residents and friends to make a donation to exclusively support two music venues at Apple Festival. The Rymers have offered a grant match of $10,000.00 per year for five (5) years.

The goal is to continue positive changes to Apple Festival including a variety of musical opportunities for all and provide an experience that encourages diversity in musical entertainment. Since the establishment of the fund, the Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau has been able to provide music at the Grandstand Stage and at Memorial Park all three days of the festival. Both venues feature local and regional artists.

We are asking our friends and neighbors to commit to an annual donation. If you can’t commit to every year we understand, but hope you will donate what you can. Your contribution will make a difference and we thank you!

No experience necessary Cost: $75, includes a premade pot, materials, and instruction. Instead of glazes, pots are carefully wrapped with pine needles, hay, copper wire, steel wool or sugar or salt. After firing, the pots are washed and polished with wax to give them a luster.

This is a two-day, one-to-2-hour session: Day One, instructor lead preparation of the pots, Day Two, after-firing, cleaning, and burnishing the finished pot.
