Lockbox Donation Drive - May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Minnesota is holding a Lockbox Donation Drive. Prescription medications, sharp objects, and firearms can pose serious risks during a mental health crisis, so NAMI Minnesota offers free lock boxes to social workers, case managers, and families. Lock boxes can be purchased off the NAMI Minnesota Amazon wishlist to help the nonprofit give families tools to enhance their safety.
Rock the Riverside - Rock the Riverside is back in 2024! Every Thursday from June 6 through Sept. 5, head to The Clearing on the Mississippi River in Sauk Rapids for live music from local bands. The opening act starts at 5:30 p.m. and the main act starts at 7 p.m. The music is free, and there will be food trucks there each week with various food items for purchase. Bri's Lodge Garage Sale - Bri's Lodge Annual Garage Sale is coming June 26-29 at the St. Cloud Eagle's Club. All funds raised are used to support families grieving the loss of loved ones. The sale runs 8 a.m.-5 p.m. June 26-28 and 8 a.m.-noon on June 29. New and gently used donations are needed for the sale, and can be scheduled for pick up or drop off now through June 25. COP House Soccer Camp - Soccer players ages 6-14 are invited to join the COP House Soccer Club and the St. Cloud State men's soccer team for a free camp! From 1-4 p.m. June 4-7, players are invited to this free camp to learn more about the game of soccer. No experience is necessary. The camp is free, but registration is required and spots are filling fast. Click here to register or for more information.
Waite Park Family Fun Fest - Head to Waite Park from June 10-14 for a week of fun activities! Starting Monday, June 10, there are activities every day for the whole family. Wednesday, June 12, is Kid's Day and features a picnic, a Touch the Truck Event, inflatables, a building project, train tours, and more. There is music in the park on June 13 and 14. Rock the Park - St. Cloud's Granite City Days are coming up June 27-30 with a variety of events each day. On Saturday, June 29, Chalk the Block in downtown St. Cloud from noon-2 p.m., and on Sunday, June 30, head to Lake George for Rock the Park. There will be a bike rodeo, fishing, petting zoo, inflatables, yard games, touch a truck, and more - all for free! The event runs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Check out the full schedule here.
Little Georgetown - Summertime By George is back in 2024, and so is Little Georgetown! Each week, head to Lake George in St. Cloud for free music and food trucks - and fun activities for the kids! SBG is every Wednesday from June 19 through Aug. 14, with a break in the action on July 3. BBBS will once again sponsor a Little Georgetown activity- stay tuned for timing and more details! Parent to Parent Connect - Starting in April 2024, The Arc Minnesota will be offering a virtual, monthly Parent to Parent Connect group. This group is an inclusive and safe space that offers the opportunity for parents/guardians of children of any age with disabilities to connect, support one another, and learn more about state resources. The group will meet from 6-8 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month starting in April. The meetings will be on Zoom. The meeting ID is 871 9958 7556 and the passcode is 714225. Kids Ride Free - From June 1 through Aug. 31, the Metro Bus U-Go Free Summer Youth Program is back. During that time, Metro Bus offers free, unlimited Fixed Route rides to youth ages 17 and younger with a student ID or Metro Bus U-Go Free ID Card. Sign up for an ID card and learn more here.
Story Strolls - Join the St. Cloud Park & Rec and the Great River Regional Library and enjoy children's stories in your local parks! Story Strolls will happen Monday, June 17 at Munsinger/Clemens Gardens; Monday, July 15 at Schmidt Park; and Monday, Aug. 19 at Northway Park. The first story on June 17 is Planting A Rainbow. From 8 a.m.-6 p.m. each day the stories will be available for self-led reading, and from 4-6 p.m. each day there will be a themed recreation staff-led activity. EPIC Career Kits at the Library - Explore career options by checking out an EPIC Experience Career Kit from the Great River Regional Library! There are 14 kits to represent different industries, and they are filled with fun activities to help kids of all ages learn more about various industries, jobs, and skills needed for specific careers. Health Science, IT, Education, STEM, Ag, and Arts are just a few of the career areas available. This website has a list all of the kits available and a link to check the kits out.
Affordable Connectivity Program -The FCC's Affordable Connectivity Program allows individuals and families to save on their monthly internet bills and potentially qualify for free high-speed internet. Qualification for the program is dependent on household income. Visit the website for full details and to apply.
Summer Kids Dream Family Film Series -Head to Marcus Parkwod Cinema in Waite Park June 9 through Aug. 29 to see some of your family's favorite films! Tickets are $3 each, or buy the Kids Dream Passport to see all 12 movies for just $18! First up is Minions, The Rise of Gru, June 9-13, followed by Sonic the Hedgehog June 16-20. Stearns History Museum Free for Stearns County Residents - The Stearns History Museum recently announced that throughout 2024, the museum will be free of charge for Stearns County Residents! The museum is celebrating 40 years in its current building in 2024. The free admission does not include paid programs or events. QueerConnect Monthly Meetups - QueerConnect Youth events are designed to help connect people in the LGBTQIA+ community. On the last Monday of every month, local mdidle and high school students are welcome at the Youth QueerConnect Monthly Meetup. This month, BBBS is teaming up with Ulta Beauty stores across the country to serve youth and support well-being in kids and teens. From May 19 through June 15, Ulta Beauty will hold an in-store donation program to benefit BBBS. During that time, customers have the chance to round up their purchase or donate directly to BBBS. Locally, Ulta Beauty shoppers can support BBBS of Central Minnesota at the St. Cloud and Baxter Ulta Beauty locations. Learn more here.
The BBBS of Central Minnesota Spring 2024 apparel store is open now! If you're looking for some new BBBS gear for summer, look no further. BBBS of Central Minnesota and the InSports Foundation are teaming up to help get more kids in the game. InSports offers scholarships to kids to help pay for participation, traveling, equipment, and more, so that cost isn't a barrier between youth and sports. Athletes in grades K-12 are eligible to apply, and can apply for a scholarship once a year. Click here to apply or for more info.

BBBS of Central Minnesota is looking for mentors to be a part of the Bigs on Campus initiative at St. Cloud State, St. Cloud Tech & Community College, and the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University. Meet with your mentee twice a month for an hour at a time at SCSU, SCTCC, or CSB/SJU and help them get accustomed to life on a college campus! St. Cloud Technical & Community College has a variety of summer camps available for kids of all ages. From volleyball camp and culinary camp to scrubs and tools, SCTCC has something for everyone. CareerONE's Summer Youth Program is back June 24-July 25, 2024. In those 19 days, youth between the ages of 14-17 in the St. Cloud Area can work on community projects, earn college credit, learn more about resumes and interviewing, explore different careers, and gain valuable job skills - while earning up to $1,020!
