COVID19 update for existing BATs
Washington Certification Services is following Washington State’s COVID-19 protocols; Backflow Assembly Tester Professional Growth examinations (exams certified BATs take to meet their professional growth requirement) are not yet been deemed essential. Consequently, these exams remain closed statewide.

Department of Health and Green River College are carefully monitoring the ever changing COVID-19 situation. A decision regarding resuming professional growth examinations for Washington’s currently certified BATs is expected sometime this fall. A decision regarding the status of professional growth requirements is also expected at this time.

We know many of you are anxious to learn what will happen. Be on the lookout! Communication is scheduled to go out to all certified BATs by 11/13/2020. This will provide information regarding resuming professional growth exams and meeting your professional growth requirement.

COVID19 update for those wishing to become BATs
Although professional growth examinations have not resumed post COVID19, Washington Certification Services has received approval to resume certification exams (exams for applicants who are not yet certified that wish to become certified). These exams are being held in limited locations under very strict protocol.

Following Washington’s COVID-19 protocols, Washington Certification Services proctors cannot administrate certification examinations when experiencing any type of illness. Green River College could also shut down in-person activities due to COVID-19 exposure or changing government regulations. As we take every precaution to keep our exams safe and on schedule, examination cancellations are still possible, and may occur with very little advance notice.

Should changes in your scheduled examination occur, please ensure we have your personal cell phone on file for our staff to reach you if necessary, especially on your exam day. WCS will contact you at the phone number you provided on your examination application. If this is an employer or another person’s phone number, it is your responsibility to confirm we can reach you on your examination day. Providing your personal cell phone number is highly recommended!

Updating your phone number is simple. Just email us at batnews@greenriver.edu and include your name, exam ID# and phone number. WCS staff will add it to your record and it will not be shared with others. This will give you the assurance we can reach you!
