Peer Tutoring

BASIS Mesa is excited to start our Peer Tutoring program this Monday.  This tutoring program gives students at our school extra opportunities during Late Bird to practice and improve their skills in various subjects.  Our peer tutors are students who are commitment to success, dedication to hard work, and academic achievements.

Our tutors will work directly with other students to help move them forward in their academic program.  Peer Tutors hold a position of leadership at our school and we are proud to have so many willing and capable students participate.

The peer tutoring program works as an open door policy.  Students are not required to schedule an appointment.  However, if a student is disrupting the learning environment they will be asked to leave. Thank you for your dedication to the school and we look forward to working with your student to enrich the academic lives of all the students here at BASIS Mesa.

BASIS Mesa Health Attendance Guidelines

A child that is sick cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in class in a meaningful way.   Keeping a sick child home prevents the spread of illness in our school community and allows the child to rest and recover.

Below are the health guidelines to follow when deciding if your child should attend school:

Fever - An elevated temperature is often an indicator that the body is fighting an illness or infection.  If your child has a temperature of 100.0 F or higher he/she should stay home until fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of a fever reducer.

Vomiting or diarrhea - Many viruses and bacteria can cause vomiting and diarrhea.  Students should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Frequent cough - Coughing can be a symptom of a serious communicable disease, asthma or a secondary infection.   If a cough is loud and disruptive or accompanied by a fever, then keep the child home and seek medical attention.

Strep throat - This infection is easily passed to others.  Symptoms include sudden sore throat, fever, stomachache and headache.  Call your doctor for any of these signs.  Your child should stay home until he/she does not have a fever and has been taking antibiotics for 24 hours.

Flu - The flu is a virus and very contagious.  The main symptom of flu is fever but can include body aches, chills, congestion, sore throat or vomiting.  Your child should stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours without the aid of fever reducers.

Thank you for helping to keep our school community a healthy place for both students and staff! For more information on the flu, E-68, or ebola, please click here.
