Keep Your Leftovers Safe
Manage your take-out leftovers safely. Your refrigerator is your family’s critical appliance at this time.

These tips will help you manage your food for safety and to avoid food waste:

  • Store leftovers in shallow containers with lids.
  • Leftover prepared foods (such as take-out meals) can be kept in your fridge for 3 to 4 days.
  • Reheat and eat leftovers or freeze them within 4 days.
  • Reheat leftovers to 165 °F as measured by a food thermometer.

Safe handling of leftovers will protect your family from food poisoning.
