JULY 4TH FIREWORKS SAFETY & ENFORCEMENT

As the July 4th holiday approaches, please note that the City of Azusa has strict laws regarding the illegal use of fireworks. Please know and obey them. Citations start at $1,000 and may increase up to $5,000 per infraction. Keep our hillsides and community safe - obey the law.

For more information, call our hotline at (626) 812-5010 or visit www.azusaca.gov.

APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR CITY'S BOARDS & COMMISSIONS

Join us! Apply to serve on a City Commission and have your voices heard. Azusa has 6 citizen Boards and Commissions that assist our City organization in engaging local voices, incorporating community input, and addressing specific issues. These bodies play a critical advisory role in the City of Azusa, with individuals who serve on the City's commissions being among the most respected and appreciated volunteers in the community.  For an application, additional information, or to speak with our City Clerk's Office regarding these opportunities visit www.azusaca.gov or call (626) 812-5200. Click flyer for more information.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL

Household hazardous waste needs special handling and safe disposal. Disposing hazardous waste in your recycling, trash, or organic containers is illegal. The City has several programs to help residents dispose of HHW safely:

1) Electronic Waste & household batteries: Free drop-off at Azusa Public Works Yard. See flyer for more details.

2) Used Oil & Used Filters: Drop off uncontaminated used oil at these participating certified collection centers in Azusa: AutoZone, Jiffy Lube #640 & O'Reilly Auto Parts. Call for hours and quantity accepted. DO NOT leave used oil if the store is closed.

3) Sharps & Needles: Drop-off box for home-generated sharps & needles at the Senior Center, 740 N. Dalton.

4) HHW Events in April & November at Veolia facility: April 2023 (done). November event will be announced via social media.

5) Unbroken CFL, LED bulbs & fluorescent tubes collection at City Yard coming soon!

HHW is an expensive program. Take advantage of the Los Angeles County mobile collection events held on Saturdays to keep your trash rates low. For schedule of events, please visit LA County Public Works or Sanitation Districts of LA County. Click here for the County's permanent drop-off locations.

Some retail stores (Home Depot, Lowe's, IKEA, Best Buy, Ace Hardware, etc.) offer households the option to drop off small quantities of Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) LED bulbs, small electronics, and/or batteries. Please call ahead to confirm if a store near you is participating or charges a fee.
