The Triple Crown honors the late Gabe Zimmerman by promoting year-round fitness, enabling people to train for and complete events that range from one mile to the half-marathon. You can do the events in person or virtually.
Registration for the three-race series includes entry into three running and walking events in three unique Tucson locations, plus a commemorative award and special shirt.
See below for more details or click here for more information at the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown registration page.

Right now! The colorful retro design is printed on a high-quality technical fitness shirt, perfect for exercise and wearing around town. The brightly-colored front print lets you show off your hometown when running elsewhere, while the back highlights Gabe Zimmerman and the three events.
Shirts are in both v-neck (pictured) and crew-neck cut. The orange shirt color is intentional. See here for more on the color orange.

In years past, Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown participants received sandstone candles, Ben's Bells, and medallion sets.
The 2023 Triple Crown souvenir is a decorative table-top award designed with Ashworth Awards and inspired by dynamic Downtown Tucson, with an inscription indicating that you're part of the Triple Crown.
The steel award is 4.5 x 5 inches and comes with a kickstand, enabling you to show your award on a desktop, bookshelf, or coffee table. We're waiting for them to arrive, but here's a picture of what they look like:

Gabe Zimmerman lost his life in the January 2011 shooting of U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords here in Tucson.
Others killed by gun violence that day include Christina Taylor Green, Dorothy "Dot" Morris, Judge John Roll, Phyllis Scheck, and Dorwin Stoddard.
Gabe was killed doing what he was best at: supporting his community, trying to make it a better place for everyone, regardless of their politics or their backgrounds.
Gabe's presence will forever be a part of our community, from the Gabe Zimmerman Davison Canyon Trailhead to the Gabe Zimmerman Meeting Room at the U.S. Capital.
We are grateful to Ross Zimmerman (standing with Gabe in the Mt Lemmon photo above) and Julia Strange at Tucson Medical Center for developing the concept of the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown.
Gabe's whole family has been devoted to fitness, running, and the Arizona outdoors, and we are honored to be able to celebrate the spirit of Gabe and highlight the possibilities for our community through the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown.
