1 BOOK 1 VALLEY
"Finest Hours"
by Michael Tougias & Casey Sherman
AUTHOR VISIT:
Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 pm

" One Book One Valley" is the annual Valley-wide reading program, where people in and around the Mount Washington Valley will be reading and discussing the same book. The idea is to promote reading and to connect people to literature through reading and discussion.

The local program started in 2006; last year's book was the award-winning "Euphoria" by Maine author by  Lily King.

Author Micheal Tougias is visiting October 27 at 7 pm, Loynd Auditorium at Kennett High School.  For more information about "One Book One Valley" and its many related programs and events, check out  1book1valley.org

Finest Hours is the true story of an incredible disaster and heroic rescue at sea told by two masterful storytellers: The book describes the simultaneous rescue missions for two oil tankers, each of which split in two during a severe winter storm off the coast of Cape Cod in 1952. It is a fast-paced, thrilling read, and it comes in a young reader's version as well as the original adult edition. A feature film based on the book was released in theaters in January 2016.

Copies of "Finest Hours" (both the adult and the juvenile version) and the movie are currently available at the North Conway Library and ALL local libraries throughout the month of September and October. Copies are also available for purchase at  White Birch Books. FMI about the book, please scroll down.

Contact the North Conway Library at 356-2961 for more information about the book discussion or the " One Book One Valley " Community Read and to reserve your copy.

The North Conway Public Library is a privately funded library.
We look and act like a public library but we receive no public funding-
no money from the town of Conway, the State of NH, or the federal government.

We must raise 100% of our operating budget each year.  Hence, we depend on your donations, our corporate sponsors and our fundraising programs!

Without your support we could not be free and open to the public. Thank you!
